bachelorette party vs bridal shower 2 Months ago
I'm a bit confused here. Please enlighten me. What's the difference between a bachelorette party and a bridal shower? Or are they one and the same?

Haha.. I'm totally at a loss with this one, too! If you ask me, I don't think there is any difference. I'm not sure about that, though. I guess I'll just have to visit this thread again to check on the answers.

A bachelorette party is held to initiate the fact that the female will no longer be single. The purpose is to gather other females so to party at bars or in the home with cocktails and dancing as her last night of freedom. A bridal shower is held to recognize that the female is starting a new life in unison with a partner. As such, gifts are provided to aid the couple in having items needed to start their home together.

I have always associated a bachelorette party with drinking alcohol and going to bars in the evening. Gifts are not part of the party. Conversely, bridal showers are typically held during the daytime hours and gifts are an integral part of the occasion

This is how I define one from the other.

Bachelorette party - to celebrate the end of a woman's singlehood

Bridal shower - to celebrate the start of a new phase in a woman's life, and that is becoming a wife

So, it's actually a celebration of two different things, although any woman could always prefer to have both.

now I'm even more confused. Actually just make it a last party between "us girls" and certainly not the sort one sees on television, revolting!
