My boss has recently filed her resignation with the company due to better opportunities in a different city. It's sad because she's a really nice boss. She is organized and efficient, but never too demanding. I'd like to give her a present before she leaves. Please give me some ideas.

How about a customized gift basket? Include a CD of her favourite type of music, a book from her favourite author and some nice flowers.

I think the book is a really good idea. Find out if she already has books like The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (management), Songs Without Words (friendship) or Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace... One School at a Time (inspirational).

You could take a photo of the group she supervises. Then, ask each staff member to write a short message on the matte you will use to frame the picture. She can place the framed photograph in her new office so that she will always remember how much she was appreciated.
