attire / jewelry 5 Months ago
How much jewelry is considered too much? My parents will be attending their high school reunion next month, and my mum has been busy choosing what pieces of jewelry to wear. The invitation says it's going to be a formal event. I'm afraid she might overdo it. Any advice?

I'd like to share with you a very helpful tip I got from a friend -- After finally deciding that your look is already perfect, remove one piece of jewelry before leaving the house.

It is too easy to wear too much jewelry, so you (or your mum) should be very careful so as not to look too flashy.

As for my case, I have a small frame, so I don't wear huge jewelry since it will make me look even smaller.

I guess you only need one main piece of jewelry and the rest can just be to help highlight the main one.

This is my advice for her (your mother):

I believe you can wear as much as you want, but you must have only one focal jewelry - this is the one that would shine out among the rest. Don't wear everything that looks big and bright in your jewelry collection, like big earrings, big pendants, big rings, etc. You would look like a walking jewelry store.

I was always told it acceptable to wear a pair of earrings, two rings, one necklace and one bracelet as long as they were all of the same precious metal, either silver or gold.
