My competitive aunt in Canada is participating in a contest held by her local garden club society. She is to submit the most unique dinner party theme including menu, decorations and games (if applicable). Besides the ideas already posted, I volunteered to ask the forum group on this site of any unusual themes that she could ponder. This may give her an advantage of querying citizens in another country.

I went to a mime dinner party theme. Everyone came as mimes. No one was allowed to talk at the party. We quickly learned to communicate in other ways. The decorations were white, black stripes with red flowers. We played charades and other games. It was a great fun.

What about a pajama party theme? You could serve breakfast foods for dinner. Everyone could come in pajamas, robes, curlers in hair...Decorate with different colored sheets and pillows.

Gender swap party!!! The male guests must dress and act like ladies, and the female guests must dress and act like gentlemen. I think this is going to be so much fun!

Have an evening indoor winter wonderland theme. Decorate with fake icicles, snow, and stars. Have ice sculptures for centerpieces. Games could include trivia about winter sports, and cultures that have survived extreme winter conditions for centures. Guest could wear snow skiing attire.

Consider a Renaissance or Medieval Party including elegant invitations in which guests are addressed as ladies or lords and asked to dress as such. Make the menu be derivatives of foods served by Henri the 8th. There are plenty of websites describing games played during that era as well as music.
