Perfect Way to Prepare Tea 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago

I have prepared tea a few times for my guests, and I think they're alright with how it tasted. I even received a few compliments. But I often wonder how others brew their tea. My old neighbour has once invited me for an afternoon tea in her home, and her white tea was just lovely. Is there a special way to prepare tea to fully release its flavor?

It really depends on the kind of tea.
You have to remember that a temperature of 90 deg C is optimum for white tea and most green tea variants. They can get bitter at higher temperatures. On the other hand, black tea should be prepared using water at 95-100 deg C (just when the water starts to boil). Other green tea variants need a lower temperature, even as low as 60-70 deg C, to be able to release its full flavor.

I never use distilled water to prepare my tea. A good friend once told me that that the quality of water is just as important as the quality of tea. She also told me that the minerals that have been stripped off from distilled water actually enhance the flavor of tea.

There are only 3 things you need to remember when brewing the perfect cup of tea, and these are the following:
1) Kind of tea - Choose only from the finest varieties.
2) Kind of water - Use fresh water always, but not tap water. The chlorine found in tap water may affect flavor.
3) Water temperature - Joanna is right. The brewing temperature will affect the tea's flavor. So, make sure you get the temperature right.
