I drink an average of 6 cups of tea a day. I usually have green tea and black tea. Could there be negative effects on my health due to drinking too much tea?
Aside from the risk of developing stain on your teeth, drinking too much tea may lead to damage of the liver and kidney. That's what I've heard, at least. But I think they refer to 'too much' as more than 10 cups per day. Your 6 cups, therefore, still fall within the limit.
I've always believed that you can drink tea like water. I'm not so sure about the instant or bottled tea, though. I think that as long as you stick with the natural, it's alright to drown in tea.
I have heard that when one reaches 12 6-ounce cups of tea or coffee a day, there could be hypertension problems. Green tea is considered a mild diuretic (potential dehydrator) if drank in excess or if exercising for long periods of time, i.e., jogging, running or football practice.
I would be more concerned about what you are putting in your tea for flavoring, such as the amount of sugar or honey you are using. These two could be high in calories.
