Has anyone made this cocktail with tea? If so, could you share what ingredients are included? Amazingly, all of the recipes I have located do not include tea, instead a cola beverage.

Oh honey, I don't think there really should be tea in there. It's a strong alcoholic drink made by mixing vodka, tequila, rum, gin and triple sec (imagine how strong that could be!). Then you simply add lemon juice, sweet and sour mix or cola to achieve the final taste you desire.

After reading the other comments, perhaps you could come up with a a new recipe: reducing the alcohol to just one type of liquor then adding green tea and lemon. You could call it "Short Island Iced Tea"

I believe Long Island Iced Tea came into being during the prohibition period in the US when it was illegal to supply and consume alcohol. This cocktail was created in the speakeasy clubs to look like tea so as not to arouse suspicions...!
