Richard Notkin believes the teapot is the most multifaceted of vessels because of its handle, spout, body and lid. The first 12 years of his long, successful artistry career all Notkin did was create teapots, and not just any type; the pots from Yixing, China were his obsession. You will notice from those shown below, it is not the shape that is strived for but instead the colours, scale and textures of these unglazed Chinese vessels. His goal is to combine these attributes with images from contemporary civilization.
